RUMINATIONS – by KayCee

Every summer we go to our family’s lake house in the Adirondacks.  The road around the lake is a 4 mile very hilly circle, and the hills vary depending on the direction in which you start.  For a 4-mile run, it’s a no brainer. For a 5 or 6 miler, you need to get creative.  I have run into and out of cul-de-sacs, ventured along the highway, or circled buildings just to add on.

After 17 years of running, it finally dawned on me that if I did 3 miles out and back around the lake, there would be no need for my silly add ons.  And it would eliminate the need of running the loop a second time.

On our recent trip to the lake, I ran 3 miles then turned around and headed home. For some reason, this was so much easier than doing the whole loop.  It doesn’t take much to make me feel smart. 😊
