ROUTES

The location known as Harper’s Meadow (aka, “The Stables”) is just above the intersection of Northwestern & Andorra Roads (2 blocks south of Chestnut Hill College) at the north-west end of Fairmount Park. Forbidden Drive is a wide footpath (gravel, no cars allowed) that follows the Wissahickon Creek downstream from Harper’s Meadow to Lincoln Drive. An extension to Forbidden Drive follows the Creek from Lincoln Drive to the Schuylkill River at Ridge Avenue (at the Philadelphia Canoe Club).

“CANOE CLUB” LOOP — 13 MILES

SOUTH from Northwestern & Andorra Rds (Harper’s Meadow) along Forbidden Drive to Lincoln Drive – 5.25 miles
RIGHT onto Bike Path to Ridge Ave – 1.25 mile
REVERSE what you just did – 6.5 miles

“VANILLA SHAWMONT” LOOP — 14 MILES

SOUTH from Northwestern & Andorra Rds (Harper’s Meadow) along Forbidden Drive to Lincoln Drive – 5.25 miles
RIGHT onto Bike Path to Ridge Ave – 1.25 mile
RIGHT on Ridge Ave – 0.1 miles
BEAR LEFT onto Main Street into Manayunk – 1 mile
LEFT then RIGHT onto Manayunk Canal Tow Path near Manayunk Farmers Market – 2 miles
RIGHT onto cobblestone ramp (end of Tow Path) up to RR crossing < 0.1 miles
CROSS tracks and follow left bend to Shawmont Ave < 0.1 miles
RIGHT onto Shawmont Ave – 1 mile (** All Hill! All The Time! **)
LEFT onto Ridge Ave – 2.5 miles

AROUND the FRONT of the Art Museum at Eakins Oval to West River Drive
FOLLOW West River Drive along Schuylkill River to Falls Bridge – 4.2 miles
RIGHT over bridge to Kelly Drive (to begin the route in reverse) – 0.1 miles
LEFT onto Kelly Drive to Ridge Ave – 1 mile
LEFT on Ridge to light at Philadelphia Canoe Club < 0.1 miles
RIGHT onto Bike Path to Lincoln Drive – 1.25 mile
LEFT onto Forbidden Drive and back to Northwestern & Andorra Rds – 5.25 miles

“RIVER LOOP” — A PHILADELPHIA CLASSIC — 8.4 MILES

The continuous Foot/Bike path from the Falls Bridge south on Kelly Drive (toward the city), around the front of the Philadelphia Art Museum (Eakins Oval), and onto the West River Drive that completes the loop back to the Falls Bridge.

“TONY-MANOR” LOOP — 15 MILES

SOUTH from Northwestern & Andorra Rds (Harper’s Meadow) along Forbidden Drive to Lincoln Drive – 5.25 miles
RIGHT onto Bike Path to Ridge Ave – 1.25 mile
RIGHT on Ridge Ave – 0.1 miles
