CONGRATS-A-MUNDO TO ALL!

  • 11/10: HARRISBURG MARATHON (Published in 11/9 Newsletter, Email Edition) –Web Editor
    • CJ3 (AKA Jim B): 4:17:48

And a personal note from CJ3:

Harrisburg Marathon this past weekend was a gritty challenge.

As I mentioned to my buddies across the county, I learned quite a bit about myself and training/racing in general:

  • Started off way too fast and got caught in the wave of adrenaline
  • At 13.1, was on track for Boston time.
  • At 16, hit a wall and legs felt like concrete.
  • At 20, developed cramps so I just willed the last 6 miles. Really wanted to quit but could not live with that so walk and jog the rest of the way.
  • Can’t train like I am 30 anymore when I am 58 🙂
  • Gotta get more sleep next time

Gotta review the replenishment and train with that in mind so avoid bonking/cramping.

RUNNIN’ OFF AT THE MOUTH

“If you run 100 miles a week, you can eat anything you want. Why? Because (a) you’ll burn all the calories you consume, (b) you deserve it, and (c) you’ll be injured soon and back on a restricted diet anyway.” –Don Kardong

“If you start to feel good during an ultra, don’t worry, you will get over it.” –Gene Thibeault

“The only reason I would take up jogging is so that I could hear heavy breathing again.” –Erma Bombeck
