RUMINATIONS
“Same Same, But Different???” 1: I’ll Help CtCloser or I Will Help CtCloser – by OKhen
(Hint: The latter is correct)
CtCloser sent this email to me:
“Hi, OKhen!
I’m going to Alaska again and want to see who can craft 1 of 3 ruminations to run when I’m away.”
My reply:
“I think I can…”
This reminded me of the book The Little Engine That Could.
Which reminded me that I appreciate the sentiment behind the mantra “I think I can … I think I can … I think I can,” but I’d never use it running up Shawmont or anywhere else for that matter.
My gentle reader might inquire, “Why not?” To which I say, “Simple, I never use even-syllable mantras.”
To which my reader might ask, “How come?” At which point I would say, “Because I only use mantras with an odd number of syllables. This lets me alternate my drive leg every time I repeat the mantra.”
Swimmers doing the crawl will get it. It’s like taking a breath every three or five strokes to alternate sides.
Weirdly (?) this in turn reminds me of “TIWIMUTA” (This Is What It Made Us Think About).
This was a very special book for which I was the producer of the metal binder.
Which now makes me wonder: Does this qualify as a complete Rumination now or does CtCloser need to send another email for me to hit the syllabic requirement? Either way, enjoy Alaska, CtCloser!

The High Mileage Debate with a Kenyan Elite Coach
…Individuals possess varying natural predispositions; some runners may adapt more readily to high volume, while others might see greater benefits from training approaches that incorporate more high-intensity interval training (HIIT) with ample recovery.
- Prioritizing Sufficient Sleep: Adequate rest is paramount for the body’s repair…
- Maintaining a Nutrient-rich Diet: Providing the body with the necessary fuel and building blocks is crucial for recovery and performance.
- Seeking Exposure to Nature: Spending time in natural environments can positively influence both physical and mental well-being…
- Cultivating a Supportive Network: Having understanding and encouraging individuals around you can provide valuable emotional support…
