A Soggy Saturday in the Rearview – by CtCloser

I did my long run this past weekend on Sunday because Saturday was soggy. As of this writing, I don’t know who showed up, but Teddio and I waxed skeptical via text beforehand. Why not? It’s happened a lot lately. Teddio gets himself (or his alter ego) going early to get to the benches at the top of the Forbidden Drive to take attendance. Then no one shows.

“A lot” is relative, because we’re talking about no-shows once every few months; but before my time, Teddio reports that no-shows were non-events. Someone always did. Or is that actually “Someone ‘else’ always did”?

Still, no one’s journey is the same and neither is any running group’s. A few random lousy days are nothing compared to the solid, normally attended Saturdays. SRC’s journey has spanned some 40 years. Those down days are just blips that will disappear in the rearview mirror of the future of an impressive group of runners. See you at the benches!
