** 7/12/08 RUN REPORT (7:30 AM START TIME)
On the Yo Yo! Me thinks that the kinda summer weather we're havin'. Hotso Motso for a few days, bay-eau-tee-ful warm and dry for a few, and then back to the soupy heat. It's a good time for havin' two pairs of running shoes. That way ya can dry out the squishy pair from the last run while using the dry pair from two days ago.
The smell? THAT'S another story. During the last heat wave, it smelled like an animal died inside the wall of our bedroom. Washin' the shoes helps, and, surprisingly, so does new socks. If this is the third season for your socks, spring for some new ones. At the price of gasoline today, if ya drive 4 less miles this week, you can afford 20 new pair of socks.
On the entertainment front, for those of you who enjoy read-at-the-beach murder mysteries seasoned with lively "Big Easy" street-talk dialogue, the Zen-ster just finished "The Tin Roof Blowdown" by James Lee Burke. Set during and after Katrina in New Orleans, it's not for the squeamish and has fantastic plot twists. Burke throws in an occasional 75-cent word (e.g., penury, paripatetic), so keep Webster nearby. Good fun! (BTW, if you know the meaning of the two "e.g." words above, I'll bet you were among the most hated in your class!)
THANK YOU to the 17 veterans that trampled the trail last week, and we'll be lookin' forward to seein' ya this Saturday.
Keep Hydrated, Train Safe and Have Fun,
Zen Yanni, student of the art of being

** Waterbottle is Happy Boy
Davey received lotsa emails and phone calls (thank you, maniacs) after the "Plea for a Playmate" two weeks ago. His disposition is just as lousy as before, but he hasn't been bothering me so much, so my disposition is vastly improved.
